Original Body Care resourceWritten and reviewed by Mallika Some, instructor at Body Care by Mallika. Open her profile. The injury that changed my teaching forever
Early on, Mallika Some started classes with jumping. A student with very high body weight twisted her leg and took a minor hairline crack. Mallika had not yet finished physiotherapy training. That injury became her main motivation to study further — so the next student would get guidance matched to their body, not one drill for the whole room.

When Mallika first started taking classes, she began with jumping. She had not yet absorbed a lesson that later became non-negotiable: not every exercise suits every student based on their body weight.
One student arrived whose weight was very high. It did not cross Mallika's mind then that she did not have to jump that much. While jumping, the student suddenly twisted her leg, fell, and suffered a minor hairline crack. Mallika had not completed her physiotherapy course. She was puzzled — and deeply shaken.
That student twisting her leg motivated me further to learn more, so that when a student comes for yoga, I can give them 100%.
Why physiotherapy joined the yoga room
The fall taught her that yoga and muscle stretching alone would not be enough. Food habits of the time and weaker bones meant physiotherapy guidance was badly needed. That student became the main motivation for taking the physiotherapy line seriously — so every person who walked in for yoga could leave with teaching that respected their body.
Questions students actually ask
Does every Body Care class still include jumping?
No. Impact is adapted. The lasting rule is that not every exercise suits every body weight and joint history.
