While already teaching yoga in Burdwan, Mallika Some completed a physiotherapy course at Durgapur Hospital: morning classes, a 1.5–2 hour commute each way, more teaching, then study until 10, 11 or midnight. Those years were the toughest of her career — and the reason her classes today are adapted to real bodies, not one plan for everyone.

Once Mallika's yoga classes were running, students kept arriving with problems yoga alone could not fully answer. Someone came with lower-back pain. Someone else with neck pain. Living in Burdwan, she decided a physiotherapy course was necessary — and she got a place at a hospital in Durgapur.
A day that never quite ended
The routine was brutal. Morning classes in Burdwan. A quick meal. Then a direct journey of about one and a half to two hours to the hospital. Study there. Travel back. Teach again. Home around 7:00 or 7:30 in the evening — and then her own books until 10, 11 or even midnight so she would not fall behind.
Those few years were the toughest time of my life, but I overcame it. Because later I realized that what I learned, I was able to pass on to my students very well.
She also holds a yoga course certificate from the University of Burdwan and physiotherapy training from Durgapur Hospital. The point of that grind was never a wall of credentials — it was being able to look at whichever student walked in and guide them properly. That standard still sits under every Body Care class.
Questions students actually ask
Why did she study physiotherapy if she already taught yoga?
Students arrived with backs, necks and joints that stretching alone did not solve. She wanted proper guidance for each body, not guesswork.
