Why I refuse extreme weight-loss deadlines

Mallika Some will not coach unsafe crash weight loss. When students ask for 20–30 kg in three or four months, she looks at body structure and refuses plans that would sacrifice muscle and health. A few kilograms a month, when scientifically sound for that body, is what she will supervise — even if it means losing the sale.

The conversation is familiar. A student arrives with three or four months on the clock and a target of twenty or thirty kilograms. The reason is often a wedding, or a job that feels stuck because of weight. Mallika asks why — then she looks at the body in front of her.

If helping them drop eight or ten kilograms in a month would leave them unhealthy, losing muscle more than fat, she disagrees completely. She will say it is not possible for her to guide that way. With their current weight and structure, three to four kilograms a month might be possible. Ten in a month would be bad for them. They can go somewhere else.

If I tried to make them lose 8 kg in one month, their body wouldn't stay fit. They would become unhealthy, and instead of losing fat they would lose more muscle. I completely disagree with them.

Why Face Yoga belongs in the same plan

Even when weight loss is happening at a sane pace, Mallika has watched faces look more tired as the body slimmed. That is why Face Yoga sits beside fitness at Body Care — so women are not left with a smaller dress size and a wearier face.

Questions students actually ask

What pace does she usually allow?

It depends on the body. She has often said that around three to four kilograms a month can be realistic for some people — never a flat promise for everyone.
