From 10 to 80: who walks into Body Care now

When Mallika Some began teaching, most students were middle-aged college or early-career women. Today Body Care includes sincere 11–12-year-olds with committed guardians, working women, retirees, and elderly students who refuse to sit at home into illness — roughly ages 10 to 80 under one teaching standard.

In the beginning there was a narrower age band — mostly girls and women of college age, or those who had just started working. Mallika rarely saw very young children or very elderly students.

That has changed. She now sees 11- or 12-year-old girls who are sincere — and guardians who are even more sincere about putting a child into yoga so the body stays fit. Elderly students come too, knowing that sitting at home can invite disease faster. Awareness has widened the room.

I have students ranging right from 10 years of age up to 80 years old.

The teaching rule stays the same across that span: adapt the exercise to the body. A child, a working mother, and an eighty-year-old do not need the same jump — they need the same careful eyes.

Questions students actually ask

Will I be the only beginner?

Unlikely. Beginners of every age are normal in Mallika's rooms. You do not need to arrive flexible or already fit.
